The Nano’s footprint is just 100 by 114 millimeters with a height of 20 millimeters, making it genuinely compact enough to slide under a portafilter on most home espresso machines without overhanging the tray. At 230 grams, it is light enough to throw in a travel kit alongside a hand grinder. The 0.1-gram precision and 2000-gram capacity cover every coffee application from weighing a single espresso dose to measuring a full kettle pour for a Chemex batch.

The feature that elevates the Nano above basic scales is its flow rate display. During pour-over brewing, the screen shows real-time grams-per-second flow rate alongside total weight and elapsed time. This is genuinely useful feedback for developing consistent pouring technique, because you can see exactly how your pour speed varies during the bloom, main pour, and drawdown phases. The auto modes for espresso and pour-over start the timer automatically when weight changes, so you do not need to fumble with buttons while holding a kettle or watching extraction. The USB-C rechargeable battery is a welcome modern touch that eliminates the recurring cost and hassle of AAA batteries, lasting roughly 7 to 10 hours of active use per charge.

The Nano’s weaknesses are interface-related. The LED display, while clean and legible in normal indoor lighting, washes out in direct sunlight and becomes harder to read at steep viewing angles. For outdoor brewing or camping, this is a real limitation. The capacitive touch buttons work well with dry fingers but become unreliable when wet, which happens constantly during coffee brewing. The Acaia Pearl S and Fellow Tally Pro handle wet-finger input more reliably, though both cost significantly more. For the price, the Timemore Black Mirror Nano offers the best combination of compact size, useful features, and build quality in the coffee scale market. It does 90 percent of what an Acaia Lunar does for roughly a third of the price, and that value proposition is hard to argue with.
